Casiguran is the most urbanized town among the northern municipalities of Aurora. Its name is coined from the native word “Casigurunan,” which means safety. The Casiguran Sound is a bay nearly enclosed by the Casiguran landmass and the cape of San Ildefonso. Naturally placid and rarely hit by monsoon winds, the bay provides safe refuge for sailing vessels and is an ideal spot for windsurfing, snorkeling, scuba diving and surfing.
The area has unspoiled beaches such as Motyong, Dalugan and Casapsapan Beach, with its powdery white sand, crystal clear waters and rich marine life. The coral gardens of Casiguran and Dilasag are in pristine condition as snorkeling and diving is not common here. Similarly, Casiguran has preserved its mangrove forests. These can be explored while riding a banca or kayaking, with friendly locals as a guide. At the end of a long day, you can relax with a soothing dip at the Maiinit Hot Spring—a natural outdoor spa in the forest.
